Female Chaffinch, (Fringilla coelebs), one of the most common of birds to visit our gardens. Look for the white shoulders diagnostic of this species. With a fairly slender body and longish white-sided tail. The chaffinch has a short thick bill, and the crown oftern appears peaked. When on the ground it walks and hops with a jerky action.
