EA's Def Jam: Fight for NY is shaping up to be a killer brawler. Just as the characters, fighting techniques, and their moves are important to a game of this kind, so are the environments where the scraps take place. GameSpy is pleased to kick off a new series of articles which will detail the various locations and arenas featured in Def Jam: Fight for NY. Today we're starting with The Bronx and its five sub-areas. Ready to rock the mic and rumble?

Gun Hill Garage

Located underneath The Gauntlet, this parking garage is the site of a legendary street fight. Here, surrounded by a bloodthirsty crowd of homeward-bound fight patrons, you'll fight your opponent in a battle to destroy each other's vehicles. To do so, you use your opponent's face as your primary means of inflicting damage against his truck. The quarters here are close, with the crowd clustered in around the two SUVs and forming a long, tight oval around the fighters. Crowd members will periodically offer weapons, but most of the action takes place around the trucks.

What to Expect

This place is great for intense fights that feature a higher level of strategy. The layout gives you a number of ways to win. There's the crowd, the weapons they give you, and, of course, the SUVs. Each time you smash your opponent against his truck, it rocks back and forth on the suspension and takes damage to the exterior. Keep pounding away and pretty soon he's looking at a total write-off. Be careful though, because if you wind up smashing him into your own vehicle, you're actually helping him to win the fight.

It's really satisfying to be able to pick up your opponent and smash him into the windshield, or bounce him off the front of the truck, creating huge dents in the hood. You can mangle his grill, smash his headlights, and bloody up his rims. If you smash him into the side doors enough times, the windows will break and the door will become loose. From there you can set a particularly brutal attack where you smash his head into the door itself. Evil. If you're lucky, you can knock his muffler loose and use that to straighten him out, or grab the windshield wiper and whip him across the face with it.
