VICTORVILLE — Political commentator, author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza will talk about his conservative values and experiences during a local fundraiser scheduled for May.

The author of several New York Times best-selling books, D'Souza will speak at the Hilton Gardens Inn in Victorville, where he’ll also talk about his latest film, “Death of a Nation,” and the “left’s efforts to once again, rule a nation,” organizers said.

D'Souza’s appearance is sponsored by the Hi-Desert Republican Women Federated, Victor Valley Republican Club and the Don Ferrarese Charitable Foundation.

Republican Club member and former president Eric Schmidt told the Daily Press D’Souza brings a “pragmatic and intellectual assessment” of the state of the country.

“As an immigrant like D’Souza, I really appreciate his passion to uphold the traditional values of our country,” Schmidt said. “He’s educated and learned, and truly understands the values of the American dream, and the potential our Founding Fathers saw in our country and why we must strive to maintain them.”

Born in India, D’Souza, 57, came to the U.S. as an exchange student at age 18 and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College.

Following his graduation, D’Souza went on to work in the Reagan White House as a policy analyst. He served as the John M. Olin Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and the Robert and Karen Rishwain Fellow at Stanford University. D’Souza served as president of The King’s College in New York City from 2010 to 2012.

Through his books, speeches and films, D’Souza became known as a “major force in public policy,” with Investor’s Business Daily calling him one of the “top young public-policy makers in the country.”

Released in August, D’Souza’s film, “Death of a Nation,” takes on “progressive big lies, finally proving once and for all that the real party of fascism and racism is now and has always been the Democratic Party,” his website said.

His films, “2016: Obama’s America” and “America: Imagine A World Without Her,” are respectively the No. 2 and No. 6 highest political documentaries of all time.

D’Souza’s feature-length film, “Hillary’s America,” is “widely credited with contributing to presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s defeat in 2016,” his website claims. The film quickly joined his first two films in the top 10 political documentaries of all time.

As the author of over 15 nationally renowned books—many of them No. 1 New York Times bestsellers—D’Souza has been invited to speak to groups all over the nation on politics, philosophy and Christianity.

D’Souza has been named one of America’s most influential conservative thinkers by the New York Times Magazine. The World Affairs Council lists him as one of the nation’s 500 leading authorities on international issues, and Newsweek cited D’Souza as one of the country’s most prominent Asian-Americans.

D’Souza’s articles have appeared major magazines and newspapers including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic Monthly, Vanity Fair, New Republic, Forbes, and National Review.

He has also appeared on numerous television programs including Tucker Carlson Tonight, Real Time with Bill Maher, Hannity, The Today Show, Nightline, The News Hour on PBS, NPR’s All Things Considered, and The Glenn Beck Program.

D’Souza’s “Death of a Nation” appearance is scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on May 24 at the Hilton Garden Inn located at 12603 Mariposa Rd., Victorville. Tickets are $75 plus fees.
