Dinesh D’Souza Makes His Dramatic Return with Hillary’s America Trailer

The hyper-conservative ideologue warns of the evils of the Democratic Party in his newest film.

To paraphrase latter-day poet and philosopher Kimberly Denise “Li’l Kim” Jones: you can’t keep a good firebrand conservative commentator down. That message probably rang loud and clear in the ears of devoutly conservative Republican ideologue Dinesh D’Souza back in June, as he made the long walk out of the community confinement center (a halfway house, essentially) that he had called home for the previous eight months. Having been convicted of campaign-finance fraud and sentenced to five years of probation along with an extended stint in the facility, the man responsible for such thought-provoking films as America: Imagine the World Without Her and 2016: Obama’s America—the thought most frequently provoked being “wait, why am I watching this again?”—made the most of his sentence. While he was left to think long and hard about why it was wrong of him to dupe well-meaning folks into donating their money under shady pretenses, he successfully gathered the funds for his next project, which has now surfaced like the glowing eyes of an alligator from murky, polluted waters.

The first trailer for Hillary’s America debuted yesterday to coincide with the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland. It would appear that the film begins with D’Souza himself languishing in a building that looks quite a bit like a prison, but will surely be clearly demarcated in the film as not so, knowing his resolute commitment to the truth. The film then sets the man who once called Barack Obama a “boy” from “the ghetto” on an investigative journey deep into the annals of Democratic Party history, unveiling a secret legacy of racism and butchery completely lost to the ages. D’Souza notes, correctly, that Abraham Lincoln and the Republican Party spearheaded the movement to abolish slavery in America. The vital understanding that the present-day Republican Party would be completely unrecognizable to Lincoln after a century and a half’s worth of ideological drift is, unsurprisingly, absent from the trailer.

D’Souza concludes his screed by establishing the sky-high stakes of this coming Presidential election: if God-fearing, well-meaning, red-blooded conservatives can’t band together to take back the nation, the most valuable nation the world has ever produced will be stolen by physical manifestation of evil:Hillary Clinton. Characterized as somewhere between your most loathed childhood schoolteacher and Tim Curry in Legend, Clinton represents the apocalypse in D’Souza’s framework. Her presidency would dry our rivers, raze our precious crops, increase mortality rates on first-born infants, and turn the sky a deep scarlet, effectively ushering in the end of days. How can she be stopped? Only with a generous donation to the Dinesh D’Souza Wants Money Foundation, a purchase of one or several tickets to Hillary’s America, and by forwarding all of those chain e-mails that the nation’s great-aunts have been passing around since Trump announced his candidacy.
