Volkswagen Bluesport may not see production

Three years after the debut of the Bluesport concept, Volkswagen is putting a halt for the roadster to go into production. This comes in despite reports confirming the completion of the engineering aspect of the Bluesport project.
Jonathan Browning, head of VW USA, expressed his view that the current market situation does not call for the introduction of an ‘entry-level’ roadster into Volkswagen product line-up, and that the new product could not find the necessary sales projection of 50,000 units annually.
The demise of the Bluesport is likely to affect its parts-sharing counterparts under the Volkswagen umbrella, namely the Audi R4 and a successor to the 550-spyder initiated by Porsche. Since no official statement has been released, it would be anyone’s guess if any of the trio will make it.
