Some people believe that Ferrari made the Testarossa as a response to the unique Lamborghini Countach, which was known for its bold and avant-garde style. However, no matter why they created it, the Testarossa story began back in 1973 with the Ferrari 365 GT/4 BB and the following Berlinetta Boxer supercars that gave Lamborghini a run for its money until 1984. These BBs were fast, looked incredibly cool, and sounded amazing. But they had some issues like a really hot interior, tricky handling, and not much room for stuff. So, in 1984, Ferrari decided to build the Testarossa, which was bigger, wider, and more practical.

Equipped with 16" five-spoke 'Star' alloy wheels, the Testarossa boasted disc brakes on all corners: 309mm discs in the front and 310mm discs in the rear. Notably, the car's interior remained cool thanks to twin radiators positioned in the rear, a departure from the Boxer's design that often resulted in a hot cabin. The distinct side vents, aside from adding visual flair, substantially contributed to engine ventilation while enhancing the car's unique appearance.

Chassis number ZFFSA17500080974 of the Ferrari Testarossa held significant importance. Ferrari gifted it to Formula 1 racing driver Gerhard Berger at the outset of the 1989 season as part of his contract for the 1989 Formula 1 World Championship. Supplied through the DENZEL Ferrari dealership in Güssing, Austria, the car received the Austrian VIP number plate T.4798 in Berger's name. He also used this number plate for his Ferrari 328 GIS, a vehicle he had received from Scuderia Ferrari.

The Testarossa's journey encompassed various owners. After Berger acquired a Ferrari F40 in late 1989, the Testarossa changed hands multiple times. Its captivating story unfolded through a series of enthusiastic owners and significant milestones. In 1990, it found a home with a friend and the owner of Inntaler Transport. A year later, it passed on to an Austrian Ferrari enthusiast, Mr. Wimpissinger, surviving a house fire that tragically claimed his daughter's life. Lost paperwork from the fire led him to part with the car. From 1993 to 2009, the proprietor of Minathaler Hof in Austria cherished it. Oliver Robert Schlachter of Lauterach then became its custodian, driving it sparingly, under 200 km, only in ideal weather conditions.

Enter Thomas Zettl of Neusäß, Germany, who, after a delayed pickup due to weather, finally drove the Testarossa just before his 25th birthday. During this period, the Testarossa garnered attention as an official press car at the Mille Miglia, visited Maranello and Imola, and competed at the International Concours d'Elegance in Germany. Each owner contributed their chapter to this remarkable narrative, underscoring the enduring allure of this automotive legend.

Eventually, Thomas Zetti of Neusäß, Germany, became captivated by the car's history and acquired it in 2014. The car's legacy was further enriched by its participation in events like the Mille Miglia, visits to the Ferrari factory, and concours d'elegance competitions where it came away with a 2nd-in-class award. During this time, Thomas Zetti managed to secure the Testarossa's signature from Gerhard Berger himself, enhancing the car's connection to the F1 legend. In February 2015, the car was transported to the UK, and arrangements were made for a reunion between Berger and the Testarossa at Birmingham Airport in July 2017. The meeting resulted in cherished signatures, photographs, and anecdotes, including a mention of Ayrton Senna's presence in the car at Monza in 1989.

A copy of the article is on file, and the car also comes with its original books (one marked 'Berger/Denzel') and a Ferrari wallet (signed by Gerhard Berger).

Today, the interior of the car is in excellent condition, including the upholstery and carpets. Even the parts that normally wear out quickly, such as the controls, pedals, steering wheel, gear knob and seats, are in excellent condition.

In addition, the body of the car is free of damage and in excellent condition. Furthermore, the Rosso Ferrari paint looks very good and still has a nice shine. The engine looks just as impressive. There are no stains or major oil leaks and the engine starts and runs perfectly.
