Crews battle flames, weather in Windsor Heights house fire
EIGHT NEWS STARTS RIGHT NOW WITH BREAKING NEWS. WE DO HAVE BREAKING NEWS AT NOON. FIRE CREWS ARE BATTLING A HOUSE FIRE ON 63RD STREET IN WINDSOR HEIGHTS RIGHT NOW. THIS IS JUST NORTH OF I-235 AVE. THEY’VE BEEN FIGHTING THE FIRE IN THE EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES FOR A LITTLE OVER AN HOUR. Crews battle flames, weather in Windsor Heights house fire
Fire crews battled a house fire Monday on 63rd Street in Windsor Heights just north of Interstate 235.Crews from Urbandale, Clive and West Des Moines also had to deal with extremely cold temperatures, which put the firefighters and their equipment to the test."We've had two hose lines freeze up. We are having issues with our self-contained breathing apparatus, " said James Mease, Windsor Heights Fire Department Chief.Along with other municipalities lending aid.There was other help that came the firefighter's way."City Council in Windsor Heights means it's all hands on deck, "said Lauren Campbell, Windsor Heights City Council.Campbell and Susan Skeries organized and delivered coffee, donuts and pizza to the firefighters.No word yet on how the fire started.No one was home when the fire started.
