COPE INDIA Exercise 2023

Context- The US Air Force (USAF) and the Indian Air Force (IAF) shall conduct the second phase of the Cope exercise.
About:
- The first phase of the exercise was completed on April 10 and the second phase shall begin on April 24, 2023 after a gap of 5 years.
- The exercise is taking place at Kalaikunda air base, West Bengal, Panagarh and Agra.
- Japan is taking part as an observer in the exercise.
- It is a bilateral fighter training exercise between the two air forces.
- The exercise shall be supported by aerial refuelers, airborne early warning systems and airborne warning and control systems and control aircraft of the IAF .
- The exercise shall focus on air mobility and use of transport aircrafts.
- The IAF shall use the Light combat Aircraft (LCA), Rafale, Su-30 MKI and Jaguars.
- The U.S Air force shall use its F-15 fighters and B-1B long range Bombers.
- The Cope India exercise’s last edition was conducted in 2019 .
