Multiple fire departments battled an overnight fire at a condominium complex in South Windsor early Wednesday morning.
Dispatchers received multiple 9-1-1 calls for a fire at the Westage Condo Complex on Amato Drive shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday. The fire was visible from two units on the second floor of the building up to the roof overhang, the South Windsor fire officials said.
All occupants were reportedly out of the building at the time of arrival, and two fire officers began a search of the building to confirm, according to South Windsor fire officials.
Fire crews made a “very aggressive” attack on the interior fire that limited the fire spread. The units below the second floor had smoke and water damage, according to South Windsor fire officials.
Only two of the four units were occupied, and both residents were able to get out of the building without injury, according to South Windsor fire officials.
The fire was elevated to a second-alarm fire before it was extinguished. Units from surrounding towns including Manchester, Ellington, Vernon and Windsor responded to support the South Windsor Fire Department.
The South Windsor Fire Marshal is investigating the fire.
