>> The Volkswagen's been doing some pretty sexy stuff lately. The CC was an example of a whole new look for them--part of Walter DaSilva's look and feel for Volkswagen. Here's another extension of that. This is a new roadster that is the blue sport concept. Now notice that the look is not the only thing different. There's also a whole technology of the power train that is going a different direction. It's a small displacement, direct injection, turbo diesel--VW loves to do those but on top of that a couple of technologies make it even more efficient. First there's an automatic start-stop technology which is typically found in Hybrids but brought here into a turbo diesel. The other is a break energy generation circuit. Now, I'm not able to get a real clear answer on where it puts that power that it recovers from the brakes because this is not a Hybrid so we'll leave a little question mark on that one. Also, you're going to find that this car has got very strong horizontal lines all around it. This is part of VW's way of making a relatively small car seem kind of low and a little more massive; not so upright and perky which is always one of the liabilities of little short wheel base vehicles. Now the bottom line is MPG 50 miles per gallon or so; that equals over a 700 mile range between stops to see the fueling station. Fifty state clean; power by the way would get you to zero to sixty in 6 seconds in the low six range going through a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox. Now this is clearly a concept but based on how quickly the CC went from eye popping to showroom, who knows. That's the blue sport concept Roadster.
