It has a aromatic greenish-yellow skin with fruit that hang off low branches waiting to be eaten. The flesh is sweet, dense and pink, and has few seeds and is great for eating right off the tree. Great for jelly or jam and can be juiced for use in smoothies or drinks. The leaves are used to make Guava Leaf Tea. To make guava leaf tea, all you need to do is soak guava leaves in a cup of hot water and drink up! High in vitamin C and B, and has as much as 8 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein. This plant is very healthy shorter big stems and good looking leaves. It smells guava from childhood. I know I can grow this as it stays in the pot until I am confident to transfer it. I have 1 big tree I bought from Puerto Rico and still alive. We transferred it now and had very small fruits twice. I think I have learned from this tree as my smaller one from last time died. I have a tendency to buy many plants at the same time.I think i should not repeat that. I’ll do it slowly so I can take care of this plant. This guava will do better this time I can tell. Delivery was prompt, and the plants came well-secured and wrapped nicely to preserve moisture. I have repotted them in larger pots prior to final planting. Now, in Southern California winter, I am wondering what care I should take to keep them healthy? Cover them in plastic for a greenhouse effect? Keep out of the sun?
Update: received a reply back from the vendor that since these were grown in California, all I need to concern myself with is watering. I will still "tent" them with plastic during cold weather so they enjoy a little shelter until Spring!
