AREA GUIDE: CAMDEN

About Camden

Camden has historically been a hub for creatives and musicians – London’s home of jazz, blues, culture and art. Known as one of London’s most eclectic and edgy areas, there is never a dull moment in Camden.

From the world-famous market and buzzing nightlife, to the beautiful canals that surround Camden Lock, Camden area is unsurprisingly a popular choice for people wanting to live in London.

Not only that, but it is very central, closer to the famous Regent’s Park, with great bus and train lines and just a stone’s throw away from King’s Cross – one of England’s main train stations.

What Is Cameden Known For?

Tourists flock from all over the world to see Camden’s colourful streets, adorned with street art that has become a favourite photo spot for thousands of people each year.

Camden has hosted multiple artists and creatives over the years, serving as a cultural and creative home for them. From Charles Dickens, to Sylvia Plath, many writers have called Camden home throughout the centuries.

Princess of soul and R&B, Amy Winehouse, was one of Camden’s home-grown artists and the area now has a bronze statue in her memory. Today, it is still an area with plenty of live music venues hosting multiple popular artists annually.

Camden is also rooted in history. The Stables, now a popular choice for a night out, date back to the Victorian days where there were not only Stables, but horse tunnels and a horse hospital.
