The large supersport YZF-R1 ABS has been on sale since 1998 and has been Yamaha's flagship model for 25 years. There was a time when official sales to the domestic market ceased, but the current model will be revived with a full model change in 2020.
It is equipped with a liquid-cooled 4-cylinder DOHC cross-plane engine with a displacement of 997 cc and an output of 200 PS at 13,500 rpm. It is equipped with the highest level of electronic control, including the Launch Control System (LCS), a fairing improved with feedback from MotoGP machines, and a multifunctional full-color 4.2-inch TFT LCD meter, which is also used in the current racing scene. The top-of-the-line variant with higher-level equipment is the YZF-R1M ABS, which features the Öhlins electronic suspension, dry carbon upper cowl, and tail cowl, in addition to the equipment of the standard model.
In the new models announced this time, equipment and specifications remain the same, only a new color has been added. The YZF-R1M is now available in Black Metallic X with a black and blue base color, and the logo graphics and aluminum tank paint have been changed from the previous version. The YZF-R1 also has the same base colors, but now comes in Deep Purple Blue Metallic C, a race-inspired blue base color, and Black Metallic X, a bold black base color.
The logo graphics have also been updated.
Both the YZF-R1M and YZF-R1 will be released on January 12, 2024 (Friday).
Prices remain unchanged: (approx.) 21374 USD for the YZF-R1M and (approx.) 15846 USD for the YZF-R1.
Note that both models are Yamaha Motorcycle Exclusive models available only through YSP and ADVANCE dealers, and dealerships for these models are limited.
