Hello wind, it’s good to greet you It’s good to feel you on my skin A gentle breeze, a breeze in mid-June The kind you welcome back again A walk at night, a walk in silence Underneath the stars and trees No noise from traffic, no TV violence A tranquil place for you and me Winter days aren’t long behind us Won’t be the last we see of them Make our plans for warmer futures Can barely hold out until then Let’s keep our minds here in the present Enjoy this weather for a change Blue eyes blazing, reflecting starlight Piercing straight through to my soul A sleepy smile brings warmth at midnight Celestial comfort from the cold A common loon, Gavia Immer Her tremolo keeps us awake But we don’t mind, we long to listen To her song out on the lake The scent of springtime air is dirty A most welcome scent for all But we still long for the summer Pretty soon, it will be Fall Let’s keep our minds here in the present And slow this time down to a crawl A desert journey to dusty canyons A place our hearts long for to find Edward Abbey, “A giant thirst is A great joy when quenched in time” A perfect life, a pleasant fiction A quiet, calm, and focused mind Healthy bodies and perfect diction We’ll leave those fantasies behind Autumn leaves fall all around us Stripping trees down to their skins Goodbye to the warmth of summer Hello again, to winter winds Let’s keep our minds on warmer futures Endure the darkness ‘Cause every winter has its end

Met you at work, your very first day Opened your door, you fell into my gaze I knew that very moment you'd be mine I opened my heart, reached out my hand Should’ve known better, you had other plans I'd lose my sense of myself in no time Now there’s nothin’ in my heart Nothin’ in my brain Nothin’ in the bank And no one else to blame There's nothin’ left to give You're a lying, dirty thief! This ain't no way to live Take all of my nothing from me Take all my nothing and leave I bought you fine meals, I bought you new clothes Those gifts and flowers I paid for through the nose And I took you on a riverboat cruise Down the Rhine I'd sing love songs into your pretty ear You'd turn your head you didn't care to hear When I looked into your eyes You wouldn't see mine Now there’s nothin’ in my heart Nothin’ in my brain Nothin’ in the bank And no one else to blame There's nothin’ left to give You're a lying, dirty thief! This ain't no way to live Take all of my nothing from me Take all my nothing and leave You took from me All I know Please have mercy Leave my soul! I lost my job, a bad economy Couldn't pay those bills, got overdue fees You'd disappear for days and leave me cryin' Now I'm living with my folks, can't leave my bed Feel nothing anymore ‘cause my inside's dead! I wish that I knew your love needed buyin’ Now there’s nothin’ in my heart Nothin’ in my brain Nothin’ in the bank And no one else to blame There's nothin’ left to give You're a lying, dirty thief! This ain't no way to live Take all of my nothing from me Take all my nothing and leave Take all my nothing and leave You can keep my nothin' for free.

Well got me a… Well, got me a… Genuine, certified, white-trash toaster Bought at the Pharmacy Store. Well I don’t mean to brag, don’t mean to gloat, sir Paid ten dollars, not a single penny more. I’ve got me a shed that’s filled with old tires, Found by the side of the road. If they don’t fit my truck, we’ll start a little fire, Tap a keg or two and have a helluva show! I must admit, I love this life. I get into a fight nearly every Friday night. The winter’s long, but that’s all right. This summer, I’ll be fishin’, just awaitn’ on a bite. Took a trek to Quebec with Ole Man Royer To help him find a date. Some lady took his offer of a twenty inch lake trout, In exchange to be his mate. Well I hunt a little deer and I hunt a little rabbit Up towards Brownington way. But my I.B.S. and cigarette habit, Tend to keep them critters away. I’m not too fit, I’m not to bright. I’m sometimes wrong when I think I’m in the right. I work all day and I play all night. My head hurts in the mornin’ when I step into the light. Took my bride for a ride on my ‘82 ski doo On Kingdom County trails. Hit a little bit of weather on the 96th mile Spit, then rained, then snowed, then hailed. I’ve traveled to the east and I’ve traveled to the west, I’ve traveled most everywhere. But nothin’ beats this land of loggers and farmers. Just breathe on in that dairy air! I must admit, I love this life. I get into a fight nearly every Friday night. The winter’s long, but that’s all right. This summer, I’ll be fishin’, just awaitn’ on a bite. I’m not too fit, I’m not to bright. I’m sometimes wrong when I think I’m in the right. I work all day and I play all night. My head hurts in the mornin’ when I step into the light.

Ugly Parts 03:28
You ain’t the world’s eighth wonder You ain’t no sinner’s saint When I’m six feet under You’ll do a little dance upon my grave You ain’t no force of nature But you are a spotlight hound What is your best feature? You’re just a fraud from the top on down Run run to your make-believe safe place Run run to your Never Never land Your truth is written on your face Won’t be fooled by sleight of hand Too much of your “look at me” stories Too much of your “woe is me” You sugar coat your superfluous glories Mask your lies as honesty Too much of your sugar drop truth bombs Too much of your Cheshire Cat smiles Can’t stand your counterfeit pom-poms Calling out your endless lies Take a dip in the old scout swim hole Take a sip at the lemonade stand You’re act won’t get past me, no It’s just a part of your wicked plan Fooled me once, only for a little while Now I see just who you are Fool me twice you best forget about it Now I’ve seen your ugly parts! Oh, now I’ve seen your ugly parts! Giddy-up to your rock-n-roll lifestyle Giddy-up to your California dreams Holed up in your single wide castle There’s less to you than you make seem Call me a callous skeptic Call me what you will With your touch I need an antiseptic An antidote to your poison pill Don’t call with your matters of contention Don’t call I’m not at home Your thoughts Merit no attention You bother me, leave me alone Ring ring the bout is over Ring ring that reckoning bell I’m calling out your malevolent nature Toxic core in a candy shell Fooled me once, only for a little while Now I see just who you are Fool me twice you best forget about it Now I’ve seen your ugly parts! Oh, now I’ve seen your ugly parts! Go find a tight knit circle Go find some kinder hearts You may find others that are blind to Every one, every one Every one of your… Ugly parts

A one-eyed bird in an old oak tree. Casts its weary eye on me. It spreads its wings, but it cannot fly. It warns of our losses From the ever-growing darkness. That overwhelming shadow of this discord that divides. A feeble, old man on a busy street. Invisible, he goes unseen. He speaks of our atrocities. Yet we heed not his warnings. We continue with our warring. Forever doomed to duplicate our darkest histories. Despondency. We languish in the anguish Of our self-made misery. We’re fraught with anxiety. Cynical and saddened By civility abandoned. I fear the worst for our desperate search for our humanity. A fissure in the rock begins to form. Foretelling of the coming storms. We fail to hear, we fail to see How our interests are all forfeit To the champions of profit. Executives and statesmen of our flawed society. Despondency. We languish in the anguish Of our self-made misery. We’re fraught with anxiety. Cynical and saddened By the ashes of compassion. I fear the worst for our desperate search for our humanity. The tear stained eyes of Liberty Denounce naivety and greed. Why do we hate? Why do we fight? We vilify each other O’er religion and our colors Our politics make lunatics. There’s no more wrong or right. Interdependency Relinquish all this anguish And let’s try some empathy. Celebrate our commonalities. It’s time to raise our voices To a unifying chorus And find our hearts before they’re lost for all eternity. Let’s shed some light On this endless night Of our… Despondency.

The Request 04:17
Stay the night, Sweet Darlin’. Stay the night, until I’m gone. Stay the night, Sweet Darlin’. Until I’ve left and you’re alone. Please stay the night, Sweet Darlin’. Stay the night, until I’m gone. Stay the night, ‘til the light breaks through the dawn. Stay the night, I beseech you ‘til I’m gone. Now won’t you stay with me tonight These last moments of my life? I need you by my side as I fade. So stay the night, Sweet Darlin’. Stay the night, as I fade. Stay the night; ‘til the brightness of the day. Stay the night, I beg you as I fade. Hold my hand, my Angel. Hold my hand until I’m gone. Hold my hand, my Angel. Through my dark and mournful song. Please hold my hand, my Angel. Hold my hand until I’m gone. Hold my hand, ‘til the light breaks through the dawn. Hold my hand, I beseech you ‘til I’m gone. Now won’t you stay with me tonight These last moments of my life? I need you by my side as I fade. So stay the night, my angel. Stay the night, as I fade. Stay the night; ‘til the brightness of the day. Stay the night, I beg you as I fade. Kiss my tears, my beloved. Kiss my tears, until they’re gone. Kiss my tears, my beloved, ‘Til my soul has left to roam. Please kiss my tears, my beloved. Kiss my tears, until they’re gone. Kiss my tears, ‘til the light breaks through the dawn. Kiss my tears, my beloved, Until I’m gone. Cry no tears as I’ll be with you When I’m gone.
