Bathroom style with tadelakt

Tadelakt is a waterproof plaster surface used in Moroccan architecture to make baths, sinks, interior and exterior walls, ceilings and floors. It is made from lime plaster, which is burnished and treated with soap to make it waterproof and water-repellant. Tadelakt is entirely natural.

Yes. Tadelakt functions extremely well in wet areas and can form a seamless, monolithic finish to countertops in kitchens, bathrooms and powder rooms.

No. Tadelakt is naturally mold-resistant. You need only to keep it conditioned with a solution of 1 tablespoon olive oil or castille soap to one gallon of warm water applied with a sponge. You must not use harsh chemicals like bleach as it would damage the surface. If area is rarely used, you may condition it once every several months. If area is used daily, you may condition it monthly.

Due to its unique composition, Tadelakt will develop both a patina and very fine cracks with time, which only serve to add to the exotic appeal of this ancient finish.
